About this workshop

In three hours you'll paint a memory on raw canvas — guided through colour, composition and technique from start to finish. We work with a stacked composition of organic shapes — simple, timeless, and forgiving for any level. Your colours come from a personal memory — a place, a feeling, a moment of joy. The structure gives you confidence. Your memory makes it entirely yours.

What can you expect

  • A short introduction to colour > the wheel, how colours relate to each other, how transparency and value create depth. Nothing intimidating, just the tools you need to make confident choices.

Then we play >>

  • Before you touch your canvas, you'll experiment freely on paper. Mix colours, discover combinations you love, find the palette that feels like your memory. This is where the magic starts, and where the fear disappears.

I'll show you a few things I love >>

  • How to let paint bleed and move. How to build opacity slowly. How tissue paper can create the most beautiful value contrast inside a shape. Techniques I use in my own work.

Then your canvas >>

  • When you're ready. No rush. We start with water, mapping your shapes. Then the colour follows. Your memory, becoming something you can hold.

  • You leave with a framed original, 18x24cm, ready to hang.

No experience needed. Imperfection is not just welcome — it's part of the process. You'll leave with a framed original painting, 18x24cm, ready to hang the same day.

"The process felt therapeutic." "Two hours passed and I didn't even notice." "I fell in love with painting." — Participants, founding session May 2026

Shadowed Sun Studio

I'm Jasmyn, an abstract artist based in Diemen, and until a few years ago, I would have said "I'm not creative".

I've worked in marketing for 13 years and still do. But a few years ago I bought a 2.5 hour online art course, picked up a brush for the first time in two decades, and fell completely in love with creating.

I paint memories ordinary moments of joy translated into colour and form on raw canvas. My work has been exhibited at Appie Gallery Amsterdam and will be shown at L'app Art Gallery in Brussels later this year.

I know there are plenty of courses and resources out there. But knowing where to start, and actually starting, that's where most people get stuck. That's where I come in. In my workshops I guide you through colour, composition and technique, always starting from a memory or feeling that's personal to you. No experience needed. No right or wrong.

Most participants say the process felt therapeutic. Some forgot to check their phone for three hours.

You'll leave with a framed original painting, made by you, from something that matters to you, ready to hang on your wall the same day.
