Mixed media: artistic rollercoaster
About this workshop
You'll be thrown into the deep and challenged to surrender to the material. Along the way, you'll learn to navigate the tension between chance and control. In this workshop, the result is not important. These hours are reserved for you and your creativity: get from your head into your hands and feel free to express yourself beyond words.
We guide you through an artistic process using a variety of techniques. We begin with collage, then move on to ink to create emotional and psychological portraits, and finally work with comté and charcoal, allowing for a more expressive and uninhibited approach. We make a lot of works in a short period of time, so that you can really develop your dynamic with the material in a short time. It will be both active and relaxing, and surely a lot of fun!
In breaks you can make your own energizing fresh Slow Juice, using ginger, carrots or other ingredients, to create an extra soul-cleansing experience. There will also be tea, cookies and other snacks.
You'll loosen up all your creative muscles and, hopefully, leave with fresh impressions, new ideas, and renewed energy.
About the host
Mette en Maria are two artists living in Amsterdam, and they invite you into their lives, providing a creative experience that has been thought out on every level.
They met each other at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, Amsterdam's most famous Art School, where they both started studying in the same year. They bonded over their shared interest in human psychology and their humoristic approach to the day-to-day life in the microcosm of the institute they took part in.
Now working as a visual artist and writer, Marie and Mette still find each other in their light outlook on life.
